Itinerary -

Day 01: Delhi – Leh (Complete Rest in Leh for acclimatization)

In the morning, fly from Delhi to Leh. On arrival at Ladakh, meet our representative. Check-in to the pre-booked hotel. Take rest and be acclimatized. Visit the local market of Leh in the evening. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 02: Leh – Shey – Thiksey – Hemis

Today, we shall go on a sightseeing tour to some important monasteries in the area. We will be visiting Shey Gompa, which was once the summer capital of Ladakh kings; Thiksey Gompa, which is said to be one of the most beautiful structures in Ladakh and the famed Hemis Monastery belonging to Drukpa Order. Overnight stay at the guest house.

Day 03: Leh – Spituk - Zingchen

Post breakfast, we will drive to Spituk (8 kilometers from Leh). The trek begins here at the bridge over the Indus River around a kilometer away from the west of Spituk Village. We will trek an easy trail to Zingchen. Set out a camp after reaching Zingchen. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in the camp.

Day 04: Rumbak – Stok la – Camp Site

Today, we will up to 4900-meter Stok Pass also renowned as Namlung. It takes less than 1.5 hours in ascending to Stok La. We shall walk about 10 minutes in the east side to find the campsite. Overnight stay in the tent.

Day 05: Camp Site – Stok – Leh

Post breakfast, we shall take an easy trek to the hill along the stream on the left bank as it leads towards the north. The track is easy and wide. The wild roses and willows adorn the trail. On arrival, explore Stok Palace. Overnight stay in a hotel in Leh.

Day 06: Leh – Delhi

In the morning transfer to hotel to catch a flight to Delhi. A drive to Manali or Srinagar can also be arranged on request. It takes two days to complete the journey by road. The overnight halts during this journey can be either Kargil, which lies on Leh-Srinagar Highway, or Sarchu, which lies on the Leh-Manali Highway.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Spituk trek is between June and mid-October. During this time, the weather in Ladakh is pleasant and the average temperature ranges between 20 and 30°C in the daytime. July and August are the ideal months for Sham Valley trek as during these months Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways also opens for private vehicles.

Where is this Trek?

The Spituk Trek is one of the classic treks in Ladakh region. Spituk has an average elevation of 3,307 metres and is about 8kms from Leh city. This easy trek takes one from Spituk to Rumbak via Zingchen through the Zingchen Gorge and the Hemis National Park. Enroute, you one has the opportunity to witness endangered Snow Leopard if trekking is done during winter or early fall. Stok La is the highest point in this trek. From atop the pass, spectacular views of the towering mountains and the lush Indus Valley will serenade you.

How to Reach?

By Air: Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is the main airport in Leh City. It has a number of flights that connect Leh with Delhi as well as with few major cities of India.

By Road: Leh is connected to the rest of India by two highways: NH 1D (Srinagar-Leh Highway) and Manali-Leh Highway. The Srinagar-Leh Highway passes through Kargil and Zoji-La (3505m), whereas Leh-Manali Highway passes through famed Rohtang Pass and Tanglang La (5325m). It also passes through the upland desert plateau of Rupshu whose altitude ranges from 3,660 m to 4,570 m.
